After a history lesson on the CROWN ACT, your art program may include:
“Your Piece of the Puzzle” , Each participant designs one puzzle piece as their “personal crown. then connect the puzzle pieces to form one large crown mural encouraging community building and collaborative artmaking.
“Create Your Crown”, where participants cut & decorate personal own crowns, connecting the beauty of Black Art to Black culture and personal expression.

Our teen program has a fashion show where teens learn advocacy, planning, public speaking and team work by being the creative directors of the show. We want to encourage young people with the importance of creativity, organization, and leadership.
The 2 Categories In The Show: Individual Style And Crown Jewels.
Crown Jewels: Love to accessorize? This category focuses on individuals who want to showcase their style with creative and eye-catching accessories like crowns, beads, and headpieces that elevate and complement Black hairstyles. We recognize not everyone has hair or wants to display with their so this is the category that allows them to be included.
Individual Style: Show the world your unique flair! This category is all about celebrating the personal creativity and expression of Black hair through styles like braids, locs, Afros, and more. Participants will walk the runway and strike a pose while our teen leaders read provided excerpts of the importance of the selected style.
